World of WarcraftFans of Diablo and Overwatch who were looking forward to the reunion at BlizzCon in November may be disappointed to find out. A blizzard canceled this year’s edition of the event. The publisher didn’t give a specific reason why it made the decision, but said that “as blizzCon remains a very special event for all of us, this was not taken lightly and we know many of you are looking forward to it.”
BlizzCon hasn’t necessarily disappeared though, Unlike E3. “While we’re approaching this year differently and have explored different event formats in the past, rest assured that we’re as excited as ever to bring BlizzCon back for years to come,” Blizzard said. wrote in a blog post.
Publishing expansions (including upcoming a three-part WoW saga and Diablo IV DLC) for their franchises at industry trade shows and other events such as Gamescom. Now that Blizzard is under Microsoft’s umbrella, we can probably expect some news from the publisher at the annual Xbox showcase in June. In addition, there are individual events Overwatch esports and to celebrate Warcraft’s 30th anniversary.
It was BlizzCon 2023 first private publication from 2019, so missing out again in 2024 could be a blow to many fans. Now they will have to wait until at least the end of 2025 to meet their peers and Blizzard developers again.
