Nothing Phone 2 has an unusual design, with a transparent back that reveals the eye-catching structure of its internal hardware. The aesthetic is a throwback to technology from the late 1990s and early 2000s. Apple iMac G3 and Nintendo’s Game Boy Color. In the meantime, Glyph interface uses LED strips to display customizable lights and patterns for your notifications on the back of the phone. It’s an attractive package that stands out in a sea of smartphone sameness.
Engadget’s Sam Rutherford reviewed the 2023 phone and he noted the eye-catching hardware design and Monochrome UI in software. Nothing sells its phone based on record-breaking specs, but the startup still made a phone that “never felt sluggish” while still being “well-equipped with useful features like reverse wireless charging.”
The phone runs on Nothing OS 2 (currently on 2.5.3). Android 14. It has a 6.7-inch OLED display, a 4,700 mAh battery, and a pair of 50 MP rear cameras (primary and ultra-wide).
Note, however, that the phone is only compatible with the AT&T and T-Mobile networks in the US – not Verizon, Sprint, Cricket or other CDMA-based carriers. Nothing just brought their phones (officially) to America with current generation hardware, perhaps future models will offer wider state carrier support.
