Back in 2019, the family of Apple engineer Wei Lun Huang (aka Walter Huang) sued him a year after he was killed in a Model X crash during Tesla’s Autopilot demonstration. There is a car manufacturer settled his claim — jury selection was to take place on the same day. Tesla’s lawyers have asked the court to seal the settlement so the settlement amount cannot be made public.
Tesla confirmed shortly after the crash that Autopilot was engaged during the crash, but it insisted Huang had time to react and had an unobstructed view of the divider. In a press release, the company insisted that the driver was at fault and that the only way the accident could have happened was because Huang “wasn’t paying attention to the road.”
An investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) found that Huang was playing a mobile game, but could not confirm that he was holding the phone at the time of the impact.

The big problem with booms in true wireless headphones is that they are almost never repairable. Once the batteries wear out, it’s done. However, Fairphone has made a pair of buds that not only come with replaceable batteries, but are also easily swappable. Fairbuds are made from 70 percent recycled and fair trade materials, with rare earth elements and tin being 100 percent recycled. They cost €149 and it’s likely that we’ll see them in the US at some point as its phones.
