OnePlus is the latest company to hop on the AI train. The phone manufacturer is introducing a new photo editing tool called AI Eraser that allows users to remove extraneous objects from their photos. The new feature will be available on a range of smartphones, including OnePlus smartphones OnePlus 12 and 12R, OnePlus 11 and OnePlus Open.
To use the OnePlus AI Eraser, one must first highlight the parts of the image that need to be erased. These can be random people or a dirty trash can, but there can also be “flaws” in the photo. The AI then analyzes that area and will blend in the existing image in the background, OnePlus claims. If it sounds familiar, it basically works the same as Adobe Generative Filling and Google Magic Eraser tools.
However, this is a new venture for OnePlus, which uses a dedicated LLM to power its AI Eraser. “As OnePlus’ first feature based on generative artificial intelligence technology, AI Eraser represents the first step in our vision to free user creativity through artificial intelligence and change the future of photo editing, allowing users to create remarkable photos with just a few taps,” Kinder Liu, OnePlus President and Chief Executive Officer of “We plan to introduce more AI features this year and look forward to their future availability.”
