Fifth edition Summer Play Fest is happening this year and now we know when the main showcase will be held. A two-hour stream of trailers, hype, announcements and gameplay updates is set for Friday, June 7 at 5:00 PM ET. So if you see any typos in Engadget’s coverage of the event, it certainly won’t be because we’re watching with a weekend cocktail in hand.
The SGF screening will again be broadcast live from the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles with a live audience. The event, moderated by Geoff Keighley, has quickly become one of the main events in the games industry calendar, as several projects large and small, announced there.
With E3 now completely dead, The SGF may be poised to take the expo’s place as the anchor for various gaming events, which usually take place in early June. The smart money is on the Xbox showcase happening next Sunday, for example.
