As always between chapters, Epic Games got it Fortnite Offline early Friday to do some maintenance and prepare the game for all the new things fans will enjoy. While downtime usually lasts a few hours, Epic ran into a problem that forced it to delay the launch of Chapter 5 Season 2.
“Hello everyone, we encountered an unexpected problem during our maintenance and need to extend the downtime by at least 8 additional hours” a post Fortnite Status is read on X account. “We apologize for making everyone wait longer than usual to get into Battle Royale Season 5 2. The team is working on this as quickly as possible and we will provide another update when we have more information.” The tweet was posted at 9:14 a.m. ET, ie Fortnite it won’t be open until at least 5 p.m.

It’s a bit unfortunate as a delay new season looks quite attractive. It’s called Myths and Mortals and it focuses on the Greek gods. In addition to gaining skins for the likes of Aphrodite, Medusa, and Poseidon through the battle pass, you can acquire mythical powers like Zeus’ thunderbolts and Icarus’ wings. Epic has added some exciting new areas to the island, including Mount Olympus and the Underworld of Hell. A terrifying-looking version of the River Styx, guarded by Cerberus, leads to the latter.
