If you’re wondering when brands will finally stop trying to cash in on the Barbie craze, the answer is somehow, not yet. HMD Nokia, which has been making phones (or Human Mobile Devices) for the past few years, has announced a partnership with Mattel to release the official Barbie Flip Phone this summer for MWC. It will obviously be pink with a dash of “sparkle”.
Aesthetically, it looks very similar to the original hot pink Motorola Razr. But while this phone has finally been relaunched as a smartphone for the modern age of foldables, the Barbie phone keeps things pretty simple. It won’t be a smartphone, but a feature phone, with HMD marketing it as an accessory aimed at “style, nostalgia and a much-needed digital detox.” HMD hasn’t revealed much about it yet, like pricing or actual photos, but the company says it plans to launch the Barbie Flip Phone at MWC, so we’ll be seeing more of it during the week.
Most people may not be ready to give up their smartphones completely just yet, but if you’re looking for a fire pit, this is probably one of the sweetest things you can get.
