Anyone who likes to take and share a lot of photos will probably agree that AirDrop is a great feature, but it’s limited by its Apple-only status. now, WhatsApp it can give you value for money on all devices. Apparently, the company is working on a new update that will allow users to share files with nearby devices. WABetaInfo reports.
WhatsApp’s new feature is currently in development (it hasn’t even reached Beta testing yet), so while we don’t know when it will be available, we have a good idea of what it will look like. For starters, users will have to shake their device to activate the request and, of course, get close to the other person. The recipient then needs to open WhatsApp and shake their device to see and accept the sharing request. We don’t know how close the couple is supposed to be, though AirDrop it has a range of about 30 feet for context.
WhatsApp’s security measures also apply to sharing files (most likely photos and videos). end-to-end encrypted. The platform will also keep phone numbers private when users share files with anyone outside of their contacts. While most of these feature AirDrop, it’s unclear if files will automatically download to the user’s camera roll or if they’ll only work with Bluetooth. Currently, WhatsApp allows 100 photos will be sent one at a time over regular messaging, so we’ll have to wait and see how this feature differs.
