There was all kinds of technology at CES 2024 in Las Vegas for, uh, There were also a bunch of laptops. Like an endless array of laptops. In fact, there are so many laptops that we had a hard time choosing among them Top CES Award Winners.
These weren’t just laptops with minor technical flaws. The theme of the year was, of course, artificial intelligence, with many computers adopting custom AI chips. OLED displays with fast refresh rates were also all over the show floor, and of course there were a few unique designs that defied description. We’ve reviewed them all and compiled a list of the best laptops at CES.
ASUS Zenbook Duo
The dream of a dual-screen laptop is not dead! ASUS Zenbook Duo with a dual-screen display and a detachable Bluetooth keyboard. In other words, you can use it in traditional clamshell mode, with the keyboard in front of one of the screens, or you can balance the screens on top of each other. It’s great for those who want the convenience of a laptop, but with extra screen real estate.
The aesthetics are spot on, and the Duo includes high-end hardware like Intel’s Core Ultra chips and gorgeous OLED displays. Since the price of this laptop starts at $1,500, the price is also quite reasonable considering the technology.
ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 and G16
ASUS strikes again. ROG Zephyrus G14 and G16 line attractive aluminum chassis and plenty of power under the hood. Thanks to AMD Ryzen 8000 series processors and high-end optional NVIDIA RTX 4070 GPU, these laptops can run almost any AAA game on the market.
We called it a “big” and “sophisticated” gaming laptop because that’s exactly what it is. It’s incredibly elegant and will feel right at home in the office and in a basement-turned-game paradise. It’s also lighter than previous generations, making it more portable. Each model features a simple LED strip that can be programmed to glow gray or white, instead of the typical Skittles rainbow found on most gaming laptops. They don’t have a price yet.
HP Omen Transcend 14
There’s a new record holder in town. HP Open Transcend 14 weighing only 3.5 kg. Cooler? HP seems to have hit this milestone without cutting too many corners. Although it’s closer to an ultraportable than an average gaming laptop in terms of size and weight, you still get support for a 14th-generation Intel Core Ultra 7 or Ultra 9 processor, up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM, 2TB of storage, and an RTX 4070 GPU. This thing won’t struggle to play modern games.
Despite the small size, you still get two USB-A and two USB-C ports (one of which supports Thunderbolt 4) and a full-sized HDMI 2.1 slot on the back. You’ll also have the option to upgrade to a Wi-Fi 7 card with Bluetooth 5.4. The price of this laptop starts at $1,600 and will be available later this year.
Dell’s new XPS line
There is a Dell with similar form factors The redesign includes the new XPS 13, 14 and 16 and no longer has a Plus line. Each of these laptops boasts a glass wrist rest that conceals an invisible haptic touchpad. There are also touch-sensitive function keys and large keycaps above the keyboard for comfortable typing.
The XPS line includes Intel Core Ultra chips that include NPUs for AI tasks. Ports are in place, with the XPS 14 and 16 boasting a headphone jack, three Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, and a microSD card reader. The minimalist design here is nice, and these laptops almost made the best of the CES list, but not quite. Once these are released into the wild, they can be added to our list Like the XPS 13 Plus.
Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 5
We promised unique and fun designs and this is one. The it’s kind of a Frankenstein’s monster, its design basically being two gadgets smashed together. It’s anything but your typical 2-in-1 device. At first glance, the ThinkBook Plus looks like an ordinary cover, but the display immediately rises and turns into a 14-inch tablet.
Not such a big deal, right? This is where things get interesting. After removal, both components remain fully functional. So you can use the tablet as a standalone Android device, a wireless monitor for your laptop base, or a Wacom-like sophisticated display via Lenovo’s Freestyle software. At the same time, you can use the deck as a mini desktop by connecting to an external display. Now there is some modular thinking. This thing starts at $2,000, but that’s pretty steep.
Everything else
There were many laptops that missed this list, but still deserve a mention.

Acer Predator Helios 18 – This is another large laptop with an 18-inch screen. However, it also features a uniquely designed hinge that is completely filled with RGB lights.

Acer Swift and Aspire – These That doesn’t offer much in the way of innovation, but it will definitely sell like hotcakes. They’re full of artificial intelligence, but Intel’s new Core Ultra processors and special switches that can call Microsoft’s Copilot AI assistant.

Alienware m16 R2 – What would CES be without the goodness of Alienware? M16 R2 with a large 90W battery, slim bezels and a thick touchpad – all in a package with a 15 percent smaller footprint than previous iterations.

Lenovo Legion updates – announced Lenovo At CES, each has its own cooling technology and performance-enhancing AI chips. All of these ship with Windows 11 and come with three months of free Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Space to see – Yeah, here’s another funky one. Spacetop It comes equipped with AR glasses that enable a 100-inch virtual screen. The design is elegant, but the execution is elegant.
