Welcome to our weekly roundup of gaming news.
January is a magical time in the video game industry. We’ve just wrapped up 12 months of marketing hype and changing production schedules, and the year ahead is full of new titles and the promise of fresh gear. In this special month, we can look with excitement and optimism to the 2024 release schedule before the delays begin. So let’s get down to it — these hearts won’t break themselves.
This week’s stories
Arcane season 2 teaser
You looked Hidden, Yeah? The Netflix series, set in the League of Legends universe, debuted in late 2021 and was an instant hit starring fan-favorite characters like Jinx, Vi, and Caitlyn. The next season will be released in November and on Riot released a one-minute teaser last Friday for that. In the trailer, Singed is experimenting on himself in a dim lab, while a creature that appears to be Warwick hangs from above, connected to tubes and IVs. It’s about to get dark, guys.
If you haven’t watched the first season Hiddendo it now.
This kid beat Tetris
I think we could all stop playing Tetris. 13-year-old Willis Gibson became the first human to reach the kill screen in the classic NES version Tetris, 34 years after the game’s debut. Gibson captured this moment on camera and honestly, it makes me sick every time I look at it. Competitive Tetris the scene has been growing steadily over the past few years, and players are using a new input technique called rolling that allows them to move pieces faster than ever before. If you’re into that sort of thing, I recommend checking out Classic Tetris Monthly on Twitch or YouTube.
Promises, promises
Before we get back to all the award shows, live streams, and media events this year, let’s take a look at the video game promises heading into 2024.
Nothing official yet, but it looks like Nintendo The Switch is about to release 2 In 2024, seven years after the original Switch launched, and right in the middle of the PS5 and Xbox Series X console cycle. According to early reports, the Switch 2 will be an iterative hardware update with slightly more processing power and support for DLSS and raytracing. The big news is that Nintendo has finally joined us in the 21st century, and gamers should be able to transfer their Switch games to the new console without a hitch.
Outside of the new Switch, 2024 is all about gaming. We know how it goes, right – in video games, a release date is really the first step before a delay, so whatever you’re up to, be prepared for the next 12 months of nausea.
There are two games that I’m pretty sure will hit the market on their 2024 release dates, and that’s only because they’ve been in development for years and have already been delayed a few times. Ubisoft’s open world pirate simulator Skull and bones It will be released on February 16 for PS5, Xbox and PC Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Coming to PS5 on February 29th. Rebirth while it looks legit Skull and bones … does not.

And then there are the games I’m personally looking forward to in 2024. Most of these still have vague release windows — it’s as if the developers didn’t want to give a time frame at all, so they just whispered. 2024 he pitched to marketing teams and hoped no one would notice. Now playing
I stuck to local co-op games during these cold winter months and now I’m over it Baldur’s Gate 3. I know, I know, everyone’s telling you to play it, but this pitch is strictly for the split-screen crowd — Baldur’s Gate 3 it’s a joy to play alongside your loved one as long as your cleric remembers to heal your party every now and then. You know who you are.
