When I’m away from home and don’t have access to my big desktop displays, I feel like I’m missing a limb. Unfortunately, there is a limit to how big a portable monitor can really be. After a certain point, it won’t fit in a reasonably sized bag. ASUS’ ZenScreen Fold solves this problem by using a curved OLED panel.
At 17.3 inches, the ZenScreen Fold is still a long way from 27-inch monitors at home, but it’s a big step up from typical 14- or 15-inch portable displays. And because you can fold it in half, it can collapse into something not much bigger than a hardcover book and only 0.38 inches thick. It’s a bit heavy at two and a half pounds, though. It also comes with a handy travel case, and since its display is protected when closed, you should be able to toss it in a bag without worrying about damaging its soft plastic panel.
At CES, ASUS announced the ZenScreen Fold, which the company claims is the world’s first foldable OLED portable monitor. Unfortunately, it is relatively expensive at $2,000. ” style=padding-bottom:60%>

The display specs are also quite decent as it has a QHD+ resolution (2560 x 1920), gamut covering 100 percent of DCI-P3 and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 compliance. However, this shouldn’t come as a complete surprise, as the ZenScreen Fold is based on the same motherboard ASUS uses. Zenbook 17 fold.
The difference this time is that the panel is a slightly newer version, so it’s a bit more durable. And thanks to a redesigned hinge that creates a teardrop-shaped fold, there’s even less creasing—you have to look hard to see it. Even its stand is better than ASUS’s tilting laptop, as it offers solid stability whether in portrait or landscape. And for a portable monitor, there’s plenty of connectivity, including mini HDMI, two USB-C ports, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
Unfortunately, while ASUS makes a great travel display that’s easy to carry, this thing is really expensive at $2,000. But if you want a portable monitor that gives you the most screen real estate in the smallest physical size, the ZenScreen might be it.
The ZenScreen Fold is expected to go on sale sometime in the second quarter.
